The basics

What is MemeYou?

MemeYou is an iPhone app that turns one selfie, or one photo of your own pet, into funny reaction GIFs made with AI. You choose reactions from preset packs and send the results in your chats, including as iMessage stickers.

Is MemeYou available yet?

It's coming soon to iPhone. The App Store buttons on this site say Coming soon until there's a real link.

What devices does it work on?

iPhone only for now, and the current build targets iOS 17 or later. There's no Android or web version.

Can I write my own prompt?

No. You choose from preset motions in each pack. There's no free-text box, which keeps results predictable and keeps the app from being used to make arbitrary images.

How long does one GIF take?

In our November 2026 tests, about 18 seconds per GIF. It can take longer when the service is busy.

Your photo

What happens to my photo?

The app asks your permission once, in an alert that names OpenAI. Then it's sent to our server and to OpenAI to make your GIFs. We don't store it on our server. Finished GIFs and your chosen photo stay on your iPhone until you delete them. OpenAI handles what it receives under its own terms. The Privacy Policy has the details.

Whose photos can I use?

Only a photo of yourself, or of your own pet. Don't upload photos of friends, family, partners, coworkers, celebrities or anyone else, even with a good reason.

Is there an age limit?

Yes. You must be 18 or older to use the app, and you confirm this before you upload.

Why was my photo refused?

Each photo goes through an automated safety check first, and the image model can refuse a photo as well. We refuse photos flagged as sexual by automated checks. We can't reliably detect a child's photo, so the 18+ and own-photo rules apply. Nothing is spent when a photo is refused.

How do I delete my GIFs and photos?

Open Settings in the app and tap Delete My GIFs and Photos. They exist only on your iPhone, so this can't be undone. Your purchases aren't affected.

Packs and pricing

What's in a pack?

Each pack has 12 reactions on one theme. There are 7: Starter, Office Drama, Dating, Monday Mood, Group Chat Chaos, Internet Classics and Pet Drama. See every pack.

Is anything free?

Yes. A new device gets one free GIF. You can use it on any Starter motion, or on Dramatic gasp in Pet Drama.

How much does it cost?

There are two options: one pack for $4.99 as a one-time purchase, or $5.99 a week for a subscription that adds 2 packs each week. The App Store shows your final price before you buy.

What do I get when I unlock a pack?

Enough generations for all 12 GIFs, plus 2 retries in case one doesn't come out the way you'd like. A generation is only counted when it succeeds.

How do I cancel the weekly subscription?

Open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period to avoid the next renewal. Apple handles billing and refunds.

Pets

Which pets work?

Pet Drama is written for dogs and cats. Our examples use a dog and a cat, so results for other animals are less certain.

Does my pet need to be looking at the camera?

It helps. A clear, well-lit photo of your pet's face and front, with nobody else in the picture, gives the model the most to work with.

Sending your GIFs

How do I send my GIFs?

Share them from the app to any chat that accepts GIFs, save them to Photos, or use them as iMessage stickers from the MemeYou sticker extension.

Can the GIFs be wrong or look odd?

Yes. They're made by AI, so a result may not look exactly like you or your pet, and details can shift from frame to frame. Retries are included in each pack for this reason.

Are the example GIFs real people?

No. The example GIFs are AI-generated and don't show real people or pets.
